Ex-President Bill Clinton Hospitalised for Precautionary Care Following Fever
Our reporter
Former US
President Bill Clinton, aged 78, has been admitted to MedStar Georgetown
University Hospital in Washington, D.C., for precautionary care after
developing a fever, according to a statement from his former deputy chief of
staff, Angel Urena.
Urena shared
on X that Clinton is "in good spirits" and expressed gratitude for
the excellent medical care he is receiving. The former president is hopeful to
be discharged and home in time to celebrate Christmas. Reports indicate that
his condition is not an emergency.
This marks
another health-related episode for Clinton, who has faced several medical
challenges in recent years. In 2021, he was hospitalised due to a urological
infection that escalated into sepsis. Clinton also underwent major heart
surgeries, including a quadruple bypass in 2004 and an artery-opening procedure
in 2010.
Clinton, a
Democrat who served two presidential terms from 1993 to 2001, has remained
active in public life. He attended the Democratic National Convention in
Chicago earlier this year and campaigned in support of Democratic candidates,
including Vice President Kamala Harris during her recent White House bid.
Medical
professionals continue to monitor Clinton's condition, and updates are expected
in the coming days.
