Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja, Passes Away at 56
Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, has passed away at the age of 56. His death was confirmed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, in a statement released on Wednesday.
The announcement, titled ‘The Passing of Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja’, revealed that Lagbaja died on Tuesday night in Lagos after a period of illness. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expressed profound sadness over the loss, noting Lagbaja’s dedication and outstanding service to the Nigerian military.Throughout his career, Lt. General Lagbaja held several critical roles, demonstrating exceptional leadership. His assignments included serving as a platoon commander in both the 93 Battalion and the 72 Special Forces Battalion.
Known for his dedication to duty and commitment to the security of Nigeria, Lagbaja made a lasting impact on the Nigerian Army and was respected by colleagues and subordinates alike.
President Tinubu’s statement highlighted the late general’s courage, professionalism, and commitment to the security of Nigeria, describing him as a patriot who gave his best to the country.
The President extended his condolences to the Lagbaja family, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and all who served with him, honoring Lt. General Lagbaja’s legacy in defending the nation.
