Etsako West- Tragedy struck the bustling Jattu market in Etsako West Local Government Area on Monday morning as a heavy downpour led to the deaths of four traders and injuries to several others.
The casualties occurred when massive trees, believed to be over 100 years old, were uprooted by strong winds and toppled over the market, trapping many beneath their trunks.
According to reports, the traders had sought shelter under the ancient trees after setting up their stalls, unaware of the impending danger.

Uptown Press gathered that, the storm, which began as a heavy rain, quickly escalated into a windstorm, causing significant havoc in the crowded marketplace.
Emergency responders were swift to the scene, working tirelessly to cut through the fallen trees and rescue those trapped.
Despite their efforts, four traders succumbed to their injuries before they could be freed. The injured were promptly transported to a nearby health facility for urgent medical attention.
Mr. Marvellous Zibiri, Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Council, confirmed the fatalities to reporters.
"Four persons died and have been taken to the mortuary, while those who sustained injuries have also been taken to the hospital for treatment," he stated.
He added that the toll could have been higher if not for the rain, which may have deterred some traders and shoppers from arriving at the market early.
Uptown Press reports that the local government authority is now working to trace the relatives of the victims. In addition, plans are being made for remedial work and livelihood support packages for those who suffered losses due to the disaster.
