Oba of Ogbaland Dragged To Court Over Refusal To Accept Nomination Of Chief Essor As The Eze Obakata 11 of Omoku

The Oba (Eze Ogba) of Ogbaland His Eminence Barr. Nwachukwu Nnam Obi, (111) has been dragged before the High court of Justice of Rivers State over his refusal to accept the Nomination of CHIEF FRIDAY ESSOR as the new occupant of the Stool of EZE OBAKATA 11 of Omoku, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA Rivers State.

Among the reliefs sought by the claimant in Suit No:OMHC/52/CS/2024 wherein CHIEF FRIDAY ESSOR seeks are; '' A Declaration that the claimant having credible documentary Evidence of his Nomination and presentation by the OBAKATA Elders and Community to the 1st Defendant for coronation as the choice of the people in the absence of any opposition by any person(s), family or any other candidates except his rival contestant Mr. Okechukwu Raymond Frank Okoro who now crowned OCHI OHNA OBAKATA before, during and after the election is the rightful Candidate to Ascend the Stool of the EZE OBAKATA 11, Omoku Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA Rivers state''.

Our correspondence who cited the suit reference above observe that the EZE OBAKATA stool was left vacant upon the demise of late HRH EZE FRANK A.A. OKORO, the EZE OBAKATA (1) of the blessed memory. After the death, performance of his burial rite and duration of mourning period for a traditional Ruler, OBAKATA community met and constituted the committee for the selection of an occupant for the stool.. 

The Rivers state Ministry of Chieftaincy and Community affair is also a party to the suit.
