Gunmen believed to be herdsmen have tragically taken the life of a middle-aged man, Mr. Danjuma Emokpaire, on his farm on Friday, March 8, 2024, in Ubuneke-Ivbiaro community located in Owan-East Local Government Area of Edo State.

According to reports from local residents, the incident occurred as the victim was leaving his farm after a day of work. It was noted that Mr. Emokpaire had mentioned his plans to plant yam seedlings before heading to the farm on that fateful day.

Concern arose when he was not found at home the following morning, with heavy rainfall during the previous evening making it difficult to ascertain his return from the farm.

Upon investigation, his lifeless body was discovered at the farm, showing signs of a brutal attack while on his motorcycle. It was evident that there was no struggle between him and his assailants, as his belongings, including his damaged motorbike, cutlass, and mobile phone, had been taken.

The community swiftly reported the incident to the Afuze Divisional Police, who promptly dispatched officers to the scene for further investigation. Additionally, the vigilante group in the area has ensured that Mr. Emokpaire's remains are laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
