Popular Nigerian Comic Actor, Mr. Ibu, Passes Away After Battle with Blood Clotting

Popular Nigerian comic actor, Mr. Ibu, whose real name is John Okafor, has tragically passed away after a long struggle with blood clotting on his leg. The veteran actor breathed his last in a hospital in Lagos state on Saturday, March 2.

The news of Mr. Ibu's demise was confirmed by family sources, who revealed to Uptown Press that the actor had been on life support following a second surgery for his ailment. His blood pressure soared to over 200 after the surgery, and despite efforts to stabilize it, he ultimately succumbed to his condition.

For years, the actor had been battling constant blood clotting on his leg, as well as other health challenges, including diseased blood vessels. In October 2023, he made a public plea for financial assistance to seek treatment for his ailment. Although there were plans to fly him abroad for further medical care, his doctors deemed him unfit to travel.

Tragically, in November 2023, Mr. Ibu underwent the amputation of his leg as part of his treatment. The 62-year-old actor is survived by his wife and children.

Mr. Ibu was widely known and beloved for his exceptional portrayal of humorous characters in movies, endearing him to audiences across Nigeria and beyond. His legacy as a popular Nigerian comic actor will continue to live on in the hearts of his fans.
