Don't waste your resources on wedding ceremony, Nigerian Cleric advise

The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor(Dr) Williams Folorunso Kumuyi has advised the intending couples to be reasonable in their spendings

during wedding ceremony. He gave this advice when he was addressing the leadership of the Church during the Church Leadership Strategy Congress. He said "many people spent money that can feed the family for a whole year on wedding reception. They fed and fed and

fed the people who have enough to eat at home." According to him, many people spent all their resources on wedding reception, and at the end of the day became debtors. He therefore counselled the intending couples to be frugal and reasonable in their spendings during wedding ceremony. Pastor Kumuyi gave a personal testimony of how he organised a crusade on his wedding day in lieu of reception. He informed the mammoth gatherings that on his wedding day, he went to

crusade ground to preach instead of holding wedding reception. The Cleric told the Church leaders that he graduated from the University of Ibadan with First Class in Mathematics. As a

result, he was offered a scholarship to go for his doctorate degree but he rejected it. According to Dr Kumuyi, I told the lecturer who informed me of the scholarship "I have a better thing in mind to do. I am going to preach the gospel."The lecturer queried "why should you use First Class brain to preach the gospel? He was surprised and went away.

Dr Kumuyi encouraged the participants to use their talents, gifts, resources, academic skills, first class brains and intelligence for the propagation of the Gospel. He told the Church leaders that "we don't retire from the work of God." Therefore, he encouraged them to be diligent and faithful in doing the work of God.

The theme for 2019 Leadership Strategy Congress is: Steadfastness Until Christ's Return.
