From Felix Mordi

The efficacy of radio communication in security networking came to bear on a dispatch rider whose plan to escape with his company's motorcycle and goods was stalled halfway to achieving his aim.

The dispatch rider,  Emmanuel Abah, 21, had successfully made it from his office in Lagos, through the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway before connecting the Sagamu/Benin Expressway at the interchange.

With him in the criminal act was one Francis Obeya 26

While basking in the euphoria of a successful operation, at J4, the boundary between Ogun and Ondo states, the motorcycle was flagged down by a police team attached to Ogbere Division at about 12:30am on Christmas day, December 25, and taken into custody with his accomplice.

Disclosing how their arrests were effected, Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a press statement made available to Crime Puzzle that:

"A distress call was received from a Lagos based company at the Command's control room to the effect that a dispatch rider with the company was sent to deliver some certain goods to a client and that he had bolted  with the goods and the motorcycle. Information further revealed that the said rider was heading towards Shagamu/Ore Road".

Based on that relayed situation report, policemen in that axis were duly mobilised to be on the look out for the said motorcycle.

"At about 12:30 am, policemen attached to Ogbere Division sighted the motorcycle at J4  area with two occupants on board. They were promptly arrested and currently being detained at the station while the motorcycle has been recovered", Oyeyemi said.

According to the police spokesman, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered the transfer of the suspects to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation and onward transfer to Lagos State Police Command which is the jurisdiction of the crime.
