There is no rift between Adams Oshiomole and I- Edo Deputy governor

 

The Edo State Deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu on Sunday finally cleared the air on the misconception that there is quarrel between him and the former National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomole. 

The Deputy governor made the clarification at Saint Philip Cathedral Church, Jattu in Etsako West Local Government of Edo State during a Thanksgiving service for his reelection for second term in office.

Mr. Shaibu said: "I want to thank Comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomole. People thought we are quarreling, no. We are not quarreling and anyone of you who thinks I am quarreling with my brother is wasting his time because the Bible says that you should teach your children the way of the Lord and when they grow up they will abide by it.



"Comrade Adams Oshiomole taught me everything I am doing politically and I abide by it. Everything I am doing is exactly what he taught me."

He said God used Adams Oshiomole to change the tide and end godfatherism in Edo State and allow the people to lead. That is the same principle the present administration abide by, he added.

He thanked the people of Edo State for their support and prayers which enables him to be reelected as the Deputy governor of Edo State.

In his homily, the Presiding Officer, Rv. Fr. Godrick Shaba congratulated him for his electoral victory and urged him to work for the good people of Edo State.

He said the people of Edo State repose their confidence in him as the Messiah and political redeemer who will deliver democratic devidend to them.

He urged him to make his office accessible to all the sons and daughters of Edo State and rely on God for a successful tenure.

The Bishop of Catholic diocese of Auchi, Most Reverend Gabriel Dunia in his remarks stated that there is need for reconciliation among the political actors in the State in order for the people to experience peace and security which currently elude the State.

The situation is further worsened by the activities of escapees of the Nigerian Correctional Service in Benin City.

The Cleric noted that thanksgiving doesn't exclude quarrel, insult and enimity among the people but urged the political class to resolve their differences and whatever has brought disunity in other to restore the State on the part of peace and progress. 

According to him, if this admonision is adhered to, even the COVID-19 pandemic currently ravaging the State will vanish.

Dignitaries across the eighteen local government council of the State which include: party stalwarts, traditional rulers, People's Democratic Party's Chieftains and government officials graced the occasion.
