Do You Follow Christ Or Men?

From Reno Omokri

If Noah had argued with his neighbours that a flood was coming, he too would have died with them in the flood. His job as a prophet was to warn them. Once he had done this, he was guiltless of their blood and could go on with his life.

God has not called anybody to argue with anybody. The Spirit of God is not argumentative. The Spirit of God is like a dove. Very flighty. And arguments make the Spirit leave.

Ezekiel 3:19 says “if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself.”

Over the years, I have written copiously about how doctrines of demons have crept into Christianity and how it is the duty of every Christ follower to desist from this. I know the amount of persecution I have received because of this.

But suffice to say that the basis of Christianity is in Matthew 28: 18-20:

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, TEACHING THEM TO OBSERVE ALL THINGS THAT I HAVE COMMANDED YOU; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”

Now, note those words: “TEACHING THEM TO OBSERVE ALL THINGS THAT I HAVE COMMANDED YOU.”

We are not to do what so-called Church Fathers teach us. Or what an unscriptural, so-called ‘Holy Father’ teaches us. We are to do and teach others to do what Christ taught and COMMANDED us to do. He is our Commander-in-Chief. No more, no less.

That is why Paul told the Corinthians in 1 Corinthians 11:1 as follows:

“Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.”

In other words, Paul was telling them that where he stopped following the example of Christ, they should stop following him.

This is why the Berean believers were called HONOURABLE because, as Scripture says in Acts 17:11:

“They received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.”

Today, we have very, very, very few Berean beliebers. What we have are people who listen and accept whatever they are told unquestioningly, without ‘examining the Scriptures every day to see if what Pastor said was true.’

In Exodus 32:5, the Israelites decided ON THEIR OWN to celebrate what they called “a feast to the LORD.” They did not call it a feast for satan, or the Golden Calf, or name it after any of the Egyptian deities they knew in Egypt. In that verse, Aaron actually used the name of God.

The verse reads “Aaron made proclamation, and said, Tomorrow is a feast to the LORD.” (LORD in the Old Testament refers to the Tetragrammaton, which is the unpronounceable Name of God Himself) The Hebrew word used in the original Scripture is לַיהוָ֖×”, which is written as Yahweh in modern English.

In Exodus 32:7-8, God responded to what the Israelites did by saying “the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou brought out of the land of Egypt, have CORRUPTED themselves: They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I COMMANDED them”.

Notice the word used above. COMMANDED. God does not give us suggestions. He gives us COMMANDMENTS.

That is why Christ said in Matthew 28:20:

“Teaching them to observe all things that I have COMMANDED you.”

I do not want to argue with people, because a lot of them have been taught sophisticated arguments to support their church doctrines and beliefs. So humour me.

If you are celebrating any so-called holiday, that neither God, nor His Son commanded you to celebrate, or you are practising any church doctrine that men made up and justified, then consider what Apostle Paul said in Galatians 1:8:

“Even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse!”

No matter how popular it is, any belief, doctrine, or holidays that do not originate from Scripture is of satan. If you like, argue from now till eternity. It remains true. I did not say it. Scripture said it in 1 Timothy 4:1:

“The Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.”

We are to follow the commandments of God and not the traditions of men. As Christ warned the Pharisees in Matthew 15:9:

“In vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the COMMANDMENTS OF MEN.”

If you take a religion like Islam, you will find out that very little has changed between the Islam practised by Mohammed, and Islam practised today. People that say that that makes Islam an unprogressive religion are wrong. Religion is static. It does not change.

So, ask yourself, if your Christianity is different from what Christ preached, and from what was practised by the early Christians for the first 200 years of Christianity, can it still be called Christianity?

Let me end by saying if you cannot CLEARLY justify your so-called Christian doctrine, holiday or practice using CLEAR, and UNAMBIGUOUS scripture, if you have to rely on ‘context’ or ‘wisdom’, or arguments that do not originate from Scripture (even if they make sense), I urge you to remember what Romans 1:20 teaches:

“Since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--His eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that PEOPLE ARE WITHOUT EXCUSE.”

God bless you. Including those who will insult me after reading this.
