Obaseki should focus on payment of salary arrears and leave Captain Hosa Okunbo out of his failing second term ambition

From Chris Osa Uhunmwangho

It is no longer news that the embattled Governor of Edo state, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has given instruction to his media sycophants led by one Crusoe Osagie who was brought from Lagos after APC victory in the 2016 governorship election to begin to reign insults and ridicule the person of our very and highly respected business tycoon and philanthropist, Captain (Dr.) Hosa Wells Okunbo, JP, that parades the rich pride and cultural heritage of the great Benin people.

It is shameful that the outgoing one-term governor has forgotten and abandon the primary responsibility of every sane government replacing it with selfish and crude politics and deliberate blackmail. One would have expected that a government with purpose will focus on delivering the dividends of democracy, but just yesterday a coalition union of staff of the College of Education, Ekiadolor took to the streets to protest non-payment of salaries, pensions and gratuity arrears totalling over ten months owed them by the state government. Rather than concentrating on this and so many lapses in his failed government, Obaseki has sworn to blackmail, embarrass and intimidate every individual he perceives to be against his failed second term bid.

We have seen several sponsored write ups emanating from his media urchins including one Mr. Crusoe Osagie. It is instructive to note that the assistance the same captain Hosa [they now crucify] have rendered to the Benins as a buisnessman, Governor Obaseki who only began his visit to Benin only recently is yet to render half of it even as Governor of the state who plays god with state resources and influence at his disposal.

Why is the Governor so keen and desperate to drag every prominent and respected Benin sons to public ridicule? First, Obaseki publicly kicked against the appointment of Dr pius Odubu as NDDC Chairman, now he’s trying so hard to blackmail Prince (Dr) Captain Hosa Okunbo and dent his hard-earned reputation in the social media space, of course even though captain Hosa is not a politician, it is within his constitutional rights to support whosoever he wishes to support in any election without intimidation or threat to life and business entities.

Till now we haven’t seen any official press statement or direct speech endorsed by Captain Hosa Okunbo pledging or announcing his support for any candidate or party in the election yet the desperate Governor sees our well respected Edo son as his arch enemy.

What interest does Cappi as fondly called has in the forthcoming gubernatorial election that he would want to sponsor thugs against anyone? Capt. Hosa is a peaceful man and highly respected son of the Benin palace. it is important we warn Governor Obaseki and his media miscreants to stay off Captain Hosa Okunbo otherwise be ready to face the wrath of the Benins, as we cannot sit down and watch the pride of our prestigious Benin kingdom being dragged into the mud. It is not of the Benin culture to disrespect our elders but since Governor Obaseki and Crusoe Osagie have portrayed not to have respect for a true son of the palace and one of the pride of the Benins, we will ensure we give them back in thousand folds their disrespect for our respected elder statesman.

Obaseki should by this means understand the relationship  between Captain Hosa Okunbo and the great Benin palace and by extension the Benin, having been adopted by the great Oba as a prince of Benin kingdom.

Enough is enough!
