Happenning Now: Disengaged NPower volunteers storm Abuja for employment appeal

The recently disengaged Volunteers of the National Social Investment Programme, NPower on Thursday (today) converge on Abuja for a peaceful protest to appeal to the Nigerian legislators in their quest for permanent employment into the nation's Civil service.

Senate President, Ahmad Lawan had last week invited the Npower volunteers to the Assembly complex this week for 'negotiation'.

According them: "It will not be good after serving for two years, receiving stipend of #30, 000 to now go back to the street after resigning from their previous jobs to take on NPower employment."

The Volunteers who carried placards with various inscriptions such as: "We Are Saying give us Permanent Job", "We have served for two years why send us back to the street" among others, therefore beg the federal government to absorb them into the Civil Service, since they have been trained for two years and possess the necessary job skills.
