54-Yr-Old Pastor in Alleged Sex Scandal, Defiles 12-Yr-Old Girl

A pastor of a pentecostal church in Ogun State has allegedly committed a detestable act of defiling a minor.

The supposed man of God, Pastor Niyi Omowodun, with Helmet of Life International Church, was caught in the act by a neighbour, after ambushing and luring a 12-year-old girl into an uncompleted building at Ejigun Agbede area of Itele-Ota in the Ado-odo/Otta Local Government Council of Ogun State.

The girl, it was gathered, was on an errand on Monday, June 29, 2020, when she fell prey to the antics of the randy pastor, who cashed in on her innocence to abuse her sexually.

The suspect

According to a press release made available to Newsmen, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said the evil deed of the pastor was blown open by a neighbour, who noticed the malfeasant act and promptly put a phone call across to the girl's father, who was then at work.

The girl's father then lodged the complaint at Itele-Otta Police Divisional Headquarters, where the DPO, CSP Monday Unuigbe, detailed his detectives to go after the man and he was subsequently arrested.

On interrogation, the suspect owned up to the crime, adding that he parted ways with his wife in 2016, an unjustifiable reason to have enmeshed himself in the mess.

However, according to the PPRO, the state Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, has directed that the suspect be transferred to the Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labor Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Abeokuta, for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
