You are not going back to the street, VP Osinbajo tells NPower volunteers

Many N-Power Volunteers across the country are not clear with the exit plan stated by the minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Hajiya Umar Sadiya Farouq, "where she said beneficiaries will be transition into government entrepreneurship and private sectors, and only successful volunteers will get the limited space available for engagement."

Below is the overview of the minister's statement, read carefully;
The minister stated that" as you all know, we are gradually transitioning you to the next level to make provision for others. The goal is to keep you Npowered while positioning Nigeria at the core of the post covid-19 digital economy.

"As apart of the transition process before eligible volunteers will be absorbed into government entrepreneurship schemes and engaging private sector bodies to absorb some of the beneficiaries, a compulsory completion of psychometric assessment would be done to determine competency and placement into various opportunities – Hajiya Sadiya Farouq disclosed.

Only successful volunteers will get the limited spaces available for engagement. More details about the Psychometric Test assessment will ensue in the incoming week.
The ministry said the current enrollees of the scheme (Batch A) will exit June 30, 2020 while (Batch B) will exit the programme on July 31, 2020.”

This is contained in a statement released by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management in Abuja on Friday via the Deputy Director Information of the ministry, Rhoda Iliya.

Like we said earlier, as part of efforts to diversify the nation's economy, we will be opening opportunities in the services and real sectors of the economy where many of you will be redeployed. Some key sectors for redeployment include;
1. Agriculture & Agro processing
2. Transport and Logistics
3. Retail (e-commerce)
4. Real Estate
5. Hospitality
6. Information & Communication Technology (ICT)
7. Creative industry
8. Finance (agency banking) etc.

These and many more will be done in collaboration with the private sector and respective government agencies.
However, many of the volunteers will require special training and assessment to make the shift into some sectors.

Similarly, the Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo maintained that existing beneficiaries will not be thrown to the street as he explained in a virtual conversion with Channel Tv last week.

Buhari really mean for good for every Nigerian, therefore all Npower beneficiaries are advised to keep calm as the FG complete the transition plan.

Congratulations to all Npower Volunteers across Nigeria, as VP has already assured you that you are not going back to the street helplessly.
