Eagles Devotional: Righteousness As a weapon of war

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.” (2Corinthians 10:4)

One of the greatest weapons of our warfare is righteousness. Revelation 19:11 records that our Lord Jesus made war in righteousness. “…called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war”. In other words, Jesus used righteousness as a weapon.

“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:11-12).

Devotional for 29 June, 2020

In the above Scripture, Apostle Paul enumerates the different categories of enemies that we wrestle with and admonishes us to get adequate weapons as prescribed in Ephesians 6:14-17.

Ephesians 6:17 talks about the “helmet of salvation.” The “helmet of salvation” speaks of righteousness which is the only weapon that can protect your head.

Ephesians 6:14 also talks about the “breastplate of righteousness.” Salvation protects your head, while righteousness protects your heart.

If the devil cannot injure your head, then he can do nothing to you.

Words of Wisdom: Your righteousness is an armour for battle.

Prayer/Confession: Oh Lord, I put on the full armour of righteousness today. Any evil altar that arises against me and my family shall be defeated, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
