SWAN Condoles NFF, NNL, Enugu F.A Over Death Of Member, Chidi Okenwa

" We received with shock the death of a member of the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation and Chairman of the Nigeria National League, Hon. Chidi Ofo Okenwa, who died on Tuesday morning", SWAN has stated.

The Association in a condolence message jointly signed by the President, Comrade Ahmed Aigbona and the Secretary General, Comrade Mike Oboh described the death of  Chidi Okenwa as a great loss to the NFF family, friends and family members of the deceased.

In the statement, SWAN President stated that Chidi Offor Okenwa would be remembered for his  firmness and doggedness in the industry.

" As Sports Writers, we share in the pains of the death of our brother and friend; Chidi Offor Okenwa and we pray to God Almighty to give his family members, NFF, NNL and Enugu state Football Association the strength to bear the loss", the statement reads.

Until his death, Okenwa was a Member of the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation and Chairman of the Nigeria National League.
He was also the Chairman of the Enugu State Football Association.

Information available to National Secretariat of SWAN revealed that the deceased had been diagnosed as having leukemia, and was said to have been restless throughout the night and slumped in the early hours before being rushed to a private hospital in Enugu, where he was confirmed dead.
