Rainfall destroys Federal Government's COVID-19 palliative for Kano

Food items sent by the federal government to the Kano state government as COVID-19 palliatives have been beaten by three consecutive rainfalls.

The relief items, which were sent to Kano three weeks ago, were left at an open space where they were kept at the state agricultural supply (KASCO) warehouse.



The food items brought into Kano city by 100 trucks include 1,380 metric tons of millet, 5,318 metric tons of rice; 2,438 metric tons of maize; and 900 metric tons of Sorghum.

As at the time of this report, the relief items are still abandoned at the open space of the KASCO warehouse located at Farm centre without provision to protect same from further damage.

When contacted, Chairman of Kano State Fundraising Committee, Prof. Mohammed Bello said plan for evacuation and distribution of the Federal government palliatives is scheduled to start on Thursday.
