Edo Council boss calls for God's mercy over COVID-19 pandemic


Reiterates the importance of personal hygiene and social distancing as precautionary measures to the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.

The Chairman, Etsako Central Local Government Council of Edo State, Comrade John Osi Akhigbe has felicitated with Christians on the occasion of 2020 Easter Celebration.

The Council Boss on the Easter Message to the people of Etsako Central Local Government Area signed by the Media Aides, Com. Ibrahim Umaru, urged the Christians to use the period of the celebration to  pray and seek God’s mercy over the Coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world.



He said the celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ are two divine events that can be used to seek God mercy to rescue his children.

He further reiterated the need for social distancing, regular hand washing with soup and running water and avoiding gathering as part of the key measurement to preventing the spread of the virus.

Chairman Akhigbe commended the State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for establishing a guideline and directive which the Local Government Areas in the state are working on in preventing and curtailing the spread of the deadly virus disease.

He also appreciated the good people of Etsako Central, the security agencies, Police, SSS, Vigilantes, response team and others for their cooperation and compliance in fighting the disease and ensuring it does not spread to the Local Government Area.

The Chairman therefore called on the general public to remain calm and maintain the Government guidelines even as they celebrate this year’s Easter.
