Edo 2020: Police Arrests 3 Over Bombings of APC Chieftains Houses

Three persons are correctly in Abuja over recent attacks with gun laws and explosives on the residences and offices of some chieftains of the All Progressive Congress, APC, ahead of the governorship election slated for September this year in the state.

Vanguard gathered yesterday that the suspects confessed to have been recruited by a former Niger Delta Militant for the acts.


It was gathered that there were attempts to compromise the investigations in Edo state, which necessitate the lawyer to one of the victims petitioning the Inspector General of Police and the investigation was taken over by the Intelligence Response Team, IRT, In Abuja.

A source said, “The officer in the IRT in Benin compromised after the suspects confessed to the crime and that they were recruited by an ex-militant.

“Some officials of government induced him and he agreed to change the statement of the suspect to now read that they were arrested while going on an operation in Abuja and there statement were actually changed and that was what led to the petition to the IG. Even when he was told to transfer the case to Abuja, he was giving excuses that their vehicle broke down on their way”.
