COVID-19: Edo Council boss diverts food items meant for vulnerables

Report reaching this blog from Igueben LG in Edo State has it that the food items being taken to the commoners have been diverted by the local government chairman.

A member of Edo Civil Society Organisations, Igueben chapter was assigned to monitor the delivery of the food items to the persons they are meant for. On their way to destination, the local government chairman blocked the vehicle and forcefully disembarked the activist as part of the consignments were diverted.

This was discovered as the number of items loaded in the conveying vehicle didn't tally with the figures delivered at the point of onward distribution.

EDOCSO have warned before now that the state government should ensure that politicians should steer clear from this exercise because they have been known overtime to always use such opportunities to advance their personal political interests.
