LASG begins relocation of computer village, meets stakeholders on road construction

The Lagos State government yesterday commenced the process for the planned relocation of computer village from Ikeja to Katangowa in Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA with stakeholders’ engagement.

The event held at the Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA Secretariat, Abule Egba and was aimed at getting all relevant stakeholders to buy into the project, particularly the construction/upgrading of network of roads within the new location.

Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Idris Salako said the relocation began with the engagement of stakeholders, which was geared towards sharing vital information and deliberating on the successful takeoff of the project, which was expected to transform the landscape of the new location, and positively impact lives by providing succour to many. Salako said that by approving the infrastructure upgrade of the host community and the delivery of the project site, the present administration has given the desired impetus to the long awaited relocation to Katangowa.

Furthermore, Salako stated that it was worthy of note that the trajectory that this project had witnessed was the outcome of the government’s determination to address, through the relocation of the market to a more sustainable place in Katangowa, the spatial and environmental challenges, brought about by rapid growth of Computer Village in Ikeja.

Salako enjoined all to support the government’s drive for the development of the axis by giving maximum cooperation, especially by conceding to the right of way of the project where necessary, as this is germane to its successful completion. The three roads to be constructed/ upgraded are Ahmed Mohammed Road, Ogunyemi Damisa Street and Abubakar Street.
