Ogie and his Anti-party syndrome

It's quite pathetic and very unfortunate that APC in Edo State has lost its steam and heading gradually into oblivion and catastrophic end as the once-revered and binding doctrines of the party which made it supreme to any self interest and aggrandizement have been thrown as thrash on the altar of satisfying the interest of a microscopic few individuals instead of upholding the voice of the people, which is the voice of God.

It is no longer news that the Secretary to the Edo State government; Barr. Osarodion Ogie and some blood-thirsty and image-destroying leaders of APC in Edo State are now hobnobing with the PDP candidate in the last House of Assembly elections in Ovia North East 1 Constituency; Mr Nosa Victor Omoregie. Their unholy and strange alliance has no other motive than to redicule the person of Hon. Dumez Onaiwu Ugiagbe who has refused to bow to negative pressures compelling him to sell his conscience for a morsel of bread.

For upholding the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the mode of inaugurating a new Assembly, he and the other thirteen members-elect are now victims of both internal and external foes.

It is no longer news also that Victor Nosa Omoregie practically now lives in the house of Osarodion Ogie. The alliance started when the enemies of democracy in the State led by some APC leaders started holding diurnal and nocturnal meetings in other to back the PDP candidate to defeat Hon. Dumez in the suit instituted against him. The PDP flag bearer who lost woefully in all the polling units in the last election promised Ogie that he would decamp the the ruling APC if he (Ogie) could help him (Victor Omoregie) press false criminal charges against Hon. Dumez Ugiagbe using the State-controlled judicial mechanism.

Having fought from all angles with no success, they have resorted to cheap blackmail and threats, one of which culminated to charging Hon. Dumez to a criminal court for falsification of his WAEC result and impersonation; a case that is currently under trial in the Federal High court sitting in Benin. It wasn't surprising to see that the prosecution team was led by the State Solicitor General; Wole Iyamu, who we all know is an errand boy to the enemies of democracy in Edo State shamefully and blindly led by Osarodion Ogie.

As enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and other known legal and constitutional practices all over the globe, the Security Agencies especially the Police is solely charged with the duty to commence and conclude investigations on matters as such, and not the Judiciary. On a matter that awaits the verdict of the Federal High court, it should have been in the best interest of the sanctity of law to keep their arsenals till a judgement is delivered on the matter.

However, knowing fully well that the case before the Federal High court lacks merit, some of these shameless figures parading themselves as leaders of APC in Edo State have taken some desperate steps to malign and subvert justice in connivance with the opposition PDP.

For somebody who has gone through the rigorous admission clearance of the great University of Benin, screened in his penultimate final year and given a clean bill by way of the revered Institution issuing a screening certificate, also having contested and won an election as a Vice Chairman of a Council, after thorough investigation by the police and the DSS, to be accused of forgery is quite laughable and very baseless.

These concocted and ill-conceived  claims are quite regrettable and will definitely fail as others have failed and most assuredly, these bad elements who are hell-bent on crushing down anyone who goes against their evil agenda, will be put to shame.

This persecution is not peculiar to Hon Dumez alone but the entire fourteen members-elect. Some of them had their wives who were hitherto working within the Benin city metropolis, transfered to interior villages, while some are being threatened with EFCC on cooked-up allegations by these same power mongers. How long will they continue to perpetrate this organised evil acts on these distinguished men of honour who only insists that prosper inauguration should be conducted?

Let it be known that this anti-party activities of Mr. Ogie and his cohorts will not only spell doom for the party in the next year governorship elections but will also destroy the fabric that many past leaders of the party have strived earnestly to hold in one piece. The same pattern of events that befell the once exalted PDP both at the National and State levels, are now being embraced in the ruling APC without recourse to the fact that history has a way of reoccurrence.

Ogie and his men should know that no amount of blackmail and intimidation will make any of these progressive 14 members-elect  succumb to their destructive pressures as justice and the Rule of Law will always prevail.
