ICT Contribution to GDP: Dr Pantami Applauds Stakeholders



The Honourable Minister of Communications, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami FNCS, FBCS, FIIM has commended the positive roles Stakeholders in Nigeria’s ICT Sector are playing, which has resulted in ICT leapfrogging Oil and Gas in Contribution to the Nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The Nigerian Minister echoed this praised during the ITU Telecom World 2019: ITU Secretary-General Meeting with Ministers, part of official engagement at ITU Telecom World 2019 taking place in Budapest, Hungary.

Dr Pantami’s tribute was coming on the heal of the report from National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria (NBS), the Information Communications Technology (ICT) sector contributed 13.85% to total Nominal GDP in the second quarter of 2019, higher than rate of 11.22% recorded in the same quarter of 2018 and higher than the 10.60% it contributed in the preceding quarter.

ITU Telecom World is a global platform for accelerating ICT innovations, organized by ITU Telecom, part of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the UN Agency responsible for ICT-related issues.
