Protest greets suspension of Edo council boss

Protesters on Monday stormed the Etsako West Local Govt Headquarter in Auchi, Edo State protesting the suspension of the embattled Chairman, Mr. Musa Yakubu who was suspended by Governor Obaseki on Friday.

The protesters in a peaceful protest marched into the premises of the Council chanting anti-government slogan on the unlawful suspension of Hon.Yakubu Musa(Yakson) the Chairman of Etsako West Local Government.

Initially, the protesters gathered at the entrance gate of the council and the gate was completely mount with sand, barricading the entrance to the Council and forced the workers to abruptly closed for the day's business. They later moved round Etsako West, from jattu junction to Angle 90 and other places in the process blocking the busy Benin-okene high way causing heavy traffic gridlock.
This attracted the attention of the security agencies who moved in to curtail breakdown of law and order.
One of the protesters who spoke to this blog on condition of anonymity said that: " We are protesting this illegal action of governor Obaseki for suspending a democratically elected Council Chairman on alleged corruption case. We appeal to governor to retrace his step."
