KEN Poly students lament incessant armed robbery attack
The students of Ken-Sarowiwa Polytechnic are calling on the authoritiesconcern to come to their rescue has armed robbery and cult attacks are becoming the order of the day in the Polytechnic community.
According to the students, life is no longer comfortable in the community as incessant case of rape and armed robbery attacks now occur on a daily basis causing panic attacks and loss of properties.
They called on the Bori Council boss to do the needful by initiating necessary security measures to curb the problem.
The students said in a statement: "The students community of ken poly wishes to draw the attention of the Governor, the commissioner of police, the civil society and all concerned to the incessant robbery and rape of our students within Bori metropolis.
Life is no longer comfortable and Bori becoming unconducive for students following the increasing attacks on our innocent students by some unscrupulous elements.
"Unfortunately, the LGA chairman whose primary duty is to protect lives and properties within this domain has remained silent in the face of obvious threats to the students here in Bori.
"As a Union, the SUG has written several letters to the chairman for courtesy visit in order to present this matter as it affects us but no attention has been given to the many letters.
"We however view the continued silence of the chairman as a deliberate move aimed at destroying the only polytechnic in the area. His (chairman) silent is not only provocative but amounts to gross incompetence that deserves an impeachment process from the Khana Legislative Assembly.
"The Bori police division on its part has remained dormant in the equation of security as they are of little or no help to the students community in our ordeal.
The only security outfit seen on ground is the Anti-cultism squad which entirely have less than ten men amounting to shortage of manpower on their part. On this note we call on the commissioner of police to do the needful.
"If after exhausting all peaceful avenues to get the protection of students in Bori from the authorities concerned and nothing is done within the shortest time possible before our examination, then we (students) shall not hesitate to embark on a peaceful protest to drive home our demand."
