Eld-el-Kabri celebration: Oshiomole sues for peaceful co-existence
The All Progressives Congress national Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole has called for peaceful co-existence among Muslims and Christian community.
The APC national Chairman made the call in Auchi on Monday at an interactive session with journalists after a close-door meeting with the Otaru of Auchi. The meeting which lasted for about an hour was held without the presence of journalists.
Comrade Adams Oshiomole said that peace is what we need now for a prosperous nation. According to him there is need to sue for peace in the family and in the community.
He said: "What we need in our family and individual lives is peace. If in the family there is no peace between the husband and wife, there is a problem. So we need peace in the family, community and the country and I think there is nothing we ask God with our clean heart to do for us that he will not do for us.
"I think this is the moment to ask for peace, to redefine love in terms of loving thy neighbour and thy self."
Oshiomole who decried the wide gap between the haves and have nots in the country urged Nigerians to cultivate the spirit of giving to the less privileged expecially at a time like this.
When asked about the challenge of erosion in some part of Auchi community and government possible solution to the problem, the APC Chairman tasked government at the State and federal level to recognise the need to continue to maintain the environment. He said the issue of environment changes with time and when you think you have fixed a particular problem another one evolves.
"From experience, the earlier a particular erosion issue fixed, the better. When you wait it can get more and more complicated. That is what happened from a small crack to a terrible valley erosion that was affecting the community but I believe that we were able to fix the problem when I was the governor.
"What I believe is required is for the government to recognise that you don't fix such a problem and go to sleep. When you fix it, you also monitor. Where there is a crack, you mend it before it becomes a big, complicated engineering work."
On his part, the Otaru of Auchi Kingdom, HRH Aliru Momoh, the Ikelebe III emphasized the need to give arms to the less privilege in the society as that is the only way to have peace.
"We are asked to be in haste to give from the sustenance that the Almighty Allah has given us, it is from what He has given, He asked that you take out of it and give others and then the world will be at peace." The monarch said.
