Massive gully erosion sacks Auchi residents
A massive gully erosion has dealt a big blow on the residents of Chairman Shuaibu street, up Iyekhie girls/Aveile road in Auchi community, just after campus 2 back gate, of Auchi polytechnic.
A Facebook user, Adams MomoRabiu who shared some pictures of the gully erosion after a torrential rainfall some days ago in the community reported "that, the gully brought down several houses and destroy properties worth millions of naira in that axis. More houses will still give way if urgent measures are not taken to address the erosion issues."
The drainage connects all water from campus Two of the polytechnic, Izoobo Junction and all other adjourning hills, and neighbourhood thus making it a massive flow any times it rained. The construction of Iyekhie Girls /Avaiele road perfected the channelisation of the drinage system to endanger the resident in that affected area.
The people of the community appeal to various authorities, community leaders, Otaru in Council, well meaning Nigerian to come to the aid of the residents to avoid further loss of property and life.
