Governor Bagudu sympathises with flood victims
Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu on Thursday visited Shiko town, Dandi Local Government to sympathize with those affected by flood last Sunday.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari says the Governor assured them that the state government would provide the necessary assistance to the victims and immediate repairs of damaged structures at Junior Secondary School Shiko, Shiko Primary Healthcare, Shiko Town Primary Schools, which had their roofing blown off.
The Governor advised the community to actively participate in the supervision of projects being executed in their areas towards ensuring the execution of quality job by contractors as well as embark on self-help projects for their own benefit.
Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu interacted with primary school pupils in Shiko town and asked whether they were being giving breakfast and was told that the contractor has not provided them with meals which did not go down well with the governor, he rebuked officials of the State Ministry of Education for lack of supervision of the feeding programme and want all food contractors to ensure regular supply of meals or have their contract revoked.
The Governor commended traditional rulers in the area for their support to the administration which facilitated its achievements in all sectors and urged them to sustain their fatherly role to ensuring good governance.
At Junior Secondary School Shiko the Governor ordered the immediate rehabilitation of classroom, provision of school toilets, water as well as teaching and learning materials.
He warned all contractors to stop-using sub-standard or poor execution of job projects awarded to them.
Earlier, the School Principal, Mallam Abubakar Mohammed Fingilla told the Governor that the school was in need of more-land for expansion activation of football pitch, of which land owners should be compensated for lands acquired and additional teaching staff.
He was conducted round the damaged houses, schools and primary health care centre by the chairman of Dandi Local Government, Alhaji Garba Salihu Dila, District Heads in the area, former Commissioner of Commerce, Alhaji Ibrahim Bawa Kamba as well as the owner of Kamba rice mills who is the Vice Chairman North of APC, Alhaji Sahabi Lolo.
