Aregbesola takes Osun ministerial slot, but where does he live in the State, where exactly is the location of his house

By Samson Adelugba

Like every other Nigerian in his characteristic disposition to governance, I had wanted to shut my eyes to the much awaited distasteful ministerial list where the choice of the nominees was based on vulgar loyalty than one that should truly represent the much touted "next level" of APC government. More importantly as Osun indigene, especially one who was already in adulthood during the inglorious and ruinous reign of Ogbeni Aregbesola in Osun state, I think it would be a disservice to the good people of the state if one kept quiet.

African, and more precisely Nigerian political practice requires that the appointed or elected official lives with his people at least to have a fair understanding of what their plight is. The norm is, once the man leaves the cake table in Abuja, he is expected among his people for the crumbs. The sustained flux of the crumbs would sustain many dedicated and committed commoners in the party's fold and the community in general. But with the choice of Governor Aregbesola, what would be the benefit or gain of those less sophisticated, rural-rural, indigenous APC members and Osun people at large many of whom could not access his house in Lagos or Abuja in the next four years?
Rauf Aregbesola

"Minister" Aregbesola as far as I know is more of a Lagosian than an Ijesha man. He doesn't understand our local contents, even when he was a Governor with his office in Abere, his style of governance resonates alienation. He was nothing but an extraterrestrial being.

Before you say how does next neigbour's noise block my breadth, be reminded the slot is for Osun people not APC. As little as I know, federal ministry, if well utilized, could take hundreds of graduates off the street of Osun thereby creates wealth for their respective families. The fact that you submit your CV alone to "Oga" would reduce anxiety and desperation. But how would Aregbesola get our CVs, who will help us pass it across to him, would the chain of middle men not replace ours with that of their girl friends? Who will be considered for contract or other benefits among Osun APC family - the new APC members from APC/SDP coalition who had been somewhat shortchanged or the primordial members who primitively concede good living to the few elite class in their party fold? They could go hungry from now till eternity as long as the leaders are fine. With this, the hope of Osun APC for better tomorrow is as dead as a dodo.

Like Nostradamus, the man who saw tomorrow. There were ominous signs that Aregbesola who recently boasted as political leader of Osun would, in connivance with Jagaban viciously use his whims and caprices to arm twist other qualified and competent candidates. Though I am not oblivious of the general maxim that "the sun will shine on those who stand before it shines on those who kneel under them." Yet, there are other local and indigenous APC politicians who could protect the interest of Osun people better.

By implication, Lagos state now has Olorunmbe Mamora, Babatunde Fashola and the unofficial Rauf Aregbesola who lives and does his things in Lagos. Already, people have been trooping to Lagos to congratulate him. What servitude! Watching a video of his celebration after his nomination among a crowd of over fifty well wishers, not even a single known face could be traceable to Osun State. Without sounding immodest, these are people who will form Aregbesola's kitchen cabinet. Per chance you see him in Abuja or Lagos, tell him we are aware of the second stolen mandate.
