AfDB pledges support for Jigawa State government

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has promised to support and collaborate with the Jigawa State Government State government to strengthen in areas such as agriculture, water and sanitation, renewable energy and human capital development.

This was disclosed by the AfDB Country Director Mr. Ebrima Faal, when the Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar paid him a courtesy visit at the country's office, in Abuja.

Mr. Faal who jointly gave keynote speeches during the recently concluded maiden edition of the China/Africa Trade and Investment Expo in China, said the AfDB is aware of developmental efforts of Governor Badaru administration in Jigawa state and will determine the subsequent steps to be taken to support the State.

He added that the AfDB would also support Jigawa State on Agriculture and agro allied productions, urban water schemes and sanitation, renewable energy and human capital developments.

Earlier in his speech when he visited the Country Director, Governor Badaru showcased his administration’s numerous achievements during his first tenure and unveiled his plans in the second tenure and appealed to the AfDB to fast track the process of its intervention in the state.

The governor who said he is  in a hurry to achieve many things and will not be patient to see this happening. He therefore solicits the intervention of AfDB to collaborate with the Jigawa State Government in areas such as agriculture, water and sanitation, renewable energy and human capital development.

He added that the visit to the AfDB office was to attract and seek for more donor assistance to the State in order to support the developmental agenda of his administration.

He said he is hoping the the visit would also lay a solid foundation for dialogue with the AfDB team and Jigawa State Government team and see how they can best collaborate and be supported by the AfDB, for his administration to move the state to the Next Level of development.
