We Are Committed to Civil Servants' Welfare- Kebbi State Govt
Kebbi State Government says it is committed to the welfare of its civil servants both serving and retired in payment of salaries and gratuity.
According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari, since the inception of incumbent administration to date, a total of N10.8 Billion has been expended on the payment of outstanding gratuity liabilities to retirees who served in the state or local government and education authorities.
The Governor directed the Ministry of Finance to continue with payment after the final ongoing verification for retirees who disengaged from service between February, 2017 and now.
According to the Commissioner of Finance, Ibrahim Muhammad Augie, from its inception, the Government inherited more than N12.9 Billion as outstanding gratuity.
He made it clear that incumbent administration under Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has been paying an average of N1.7 Billion for state and N1.6 Billion for LGAs and LGEAs as monthly salaries and N241 Million for state monthly pension from its inception to date.
The sum of N1 Billion was paid on one-over-six ration to all verified inherited retirees through Kwaido Committee in 2015 while in 2016/2017 the sum of N6.6 Billion was released and paid to all verified retirees for state, LGAs and LGEAs which made it 40% at payment effect to settle verified retirees.
Early this year another sum of N2.5 Billion was released and paid to verified retirees of which every retirees got a minimum of 27% of his outstanding gratuity arrears. This brought the total percentage payment on all claims to about 67%.
