Social Media Practitioners Urged to Focus Attention on Political development
Practitioners of social media have been told to focus attention on the perfection of Democratic dispensation and the political development of Nigeria.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari, a copy of which was made available to Strategic Media, says, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu gave the advice when he hosted operators of social media to a Ramadan breakfast at Government House Birnin Kebbi this Sunday.
The Governor spoke about the necessity on social media to function for the unity and brotherliness of Nigerians under a single entity devoid of religious, ethnicity, sectional or tribal sentiments.
Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu acknowledged the contribution of the social media towards the political sensitization and mobilization of Nigerians to perform their civic responsibility, which facilitated the victory of the APC in the 2015 General Election and its emergence as the Governing party.
He marked that, as the Nation faced another general election in 2019 it was incumbent on the social media to mobilize the people to sustain such support and ensure that, the polls were conducted free, fair, and peaceful with credibility. The Governor admonished operators of social media to avoid whatever would be inimical to the peaceful coexistence of the country or create unnecessary tension among the populace.
The Majority leader Kebbi State House of Assembly Hon. Yakubu Bello Rilisco commended social media practitioners for the loyalty, support and cooperation to the present administration.
In their separate remarks the leaders of the state social media group Zaidu Bala Kofa Sabuwa commended the state Governor for ensuring massive development across the state in all sectors.
Also Adamu Attahiru, Abubakar Bagudu Kalgo and Aishatu Magawata expressed appreciation for the honour done to the members of the social media group by hosting them to the Ramadan breakfast.
