Speaker Salaam made this remark while receiving party women leaders across all local governments in the state, in audience at his official residence in Oshogbo. In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Goke Butika, a copy of which was made available to Strategic Media, Salaam urged the critical stakeholders to work towards creating level playing for all aspirants in order to remove brinkmanship and desperation of zealots.
He explained that people were coming into politics for different reasons, but for one goal of realizing their bigger dream of serving their respective societies; saying if doors of opportunities are seen to be closed against some, the party might be a victim in the future elections.
Dr. Salaam further suggested that APC leadership in Osun and concerned stakeholders should be worried about the perceived injustice to Osun West senatorial district as touching governorship opportunity, noting that the ruling party should be seen as accommodating for all zones in the state, if the party is interested in keeping its winning formula.
He reiterated: "Our party must be perceived as accommodating and sensitive to the three zones of the state, in order to create sense of belonging for all manner of people who are in politics from the zones and this must be done in such a way that the interest of the party must be placed above the narrow interest of certain individuals. Our party should not be made a pariah in any of the zones and the ember of discord must not be fanned by desperate supporters of all aspirants, particularly on social media."
Dr. Salaam also tasked the party leaders to begin to recalibrate on issues of grassroots engagement, party agenda for the masses and equal opportunity for all concerned; noting that was the potent way of rebutting the antics of the opposition in the forthcoming election.
