According to the
bishop, the programme would help government to actualise its objective of
reducing unemployment among the youth.
He implored
youths, especially corps members to take the programme seriously so that they
could be self employed instead of seeking for white collar jobs that were no
longer available these days.
“It is my hope
and prayer that the government would give the desired support and encouragement
to this programme due to its significance to the growth of our economy’’ Kukah
said.
The bishop thanked the state coordinator for the visit and
pledged more support to the scheme in the state.
Earlier, Musa
appreciated the existing cordial relationship between the Bishop’s office and
the scheme in the state.
The NYSC
coordinator urged Kukah to focus his teachings more on moral upbringing as many
parents had abandoned the training of their children to pursuing careers and
money.
He commended the
bishop and encouraged him to continue to play his role in preaching peace and
religious tolerance to youths, which was the primary aim of any religious
institution.
Musa also
commended the bishop for his advocacy on national unity and inter faith
dialogue aimed at ensuring peace and harmony in the country.
