2017 Budget: Education to Gulp #398.01billion

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday said that a significant portion of recurrent expenditure in the 2017 budget has been provided for payment of salaries and overheads in Institutions that provides critical public service.

According to him, the breakdown of the recurrent expenditure shows that the sum of #482.37billion is voted for the Ministry of Interior, #398.01billion for the Ministry of Education, #325.87billion for the Ministry of Defense, and #252.87billion for the Ministry of health. He added that the sum of #1.8trillion has been provided for personnel costs. Under Special Intervention Programme,education takes #50billion while Universal Basic Education Commission got #92billion.
