Environmental Officer Tasks Residents on Hygiene

The H.O.D Environmentt, Owan East Local government, Mr. Okhemukhokho festus urged the residents of the Council to maintain a high level of cleanliness as the council authority would no longer condone dirty environment.

The H.O.D made the plea when monitoring the monthly sanitation exercise weekend.

He said that the exercise is important in order to have a clean and hygiene environment and charged residents to desist from emptying the content of their waste bins into the drainage during rainstorm as it could lead to flooding and preventable environmental diseases.

On measures put in place by the council to ensure a clean environment, Mr. Okhemukhokho said that apart from the fact that the Council constantly clear the drainage to ensure free flow of water, it also embark on sensitization of the people, educating them on the danger of dumping refuse in the drainage.

He, however, tasked government to make available effective refuse system collection such as provision of trucks for the collection of refuse in the community for final disposal at dump site.

He appealed to the public to join hands with the Edo State government to rid the state of all form of environmental menace.
