PDP senators kick against partial screening of ministerial nominees
Abuja- Senators under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may spring a surprise when the screening of ministerial nominees opens next week in upper chamber of the National Assembly. The PDP Caucus met behind closed doors after yesterday’s Senate plenary.
Insiders said that the meeting was basically to consider the criteria set by the Senate for the screening and confirmation President Muhammadu Buhari ministerial nominees.
The Senate has set Tuesday and Wednesday to screen all 21 nominees recommended for ministerial positions by the President.
Though the PDP lawmakers kept sealed lips after their secret meeting, an insider’s source revealed that the caucus resolved to reject piece-meal presentation of the ministers-nominee list.
The source, specifically, said the opposition senators may hold down the screening process to compel President Buhari to send the full list of ministerial nominees.
